When a person has asthma, his bronchial tubes become narrow or, in worse cases, completely closed, which makes it difficult for the person to breathe. The first step in treating this condition is usually by avoiding allergens and asthma triggers. If the first treatment step is ineffective, medications may be prescribed by the doctor or specialist to relieve the symptoms.

This website provides a comprehensive list of drugs that are commonly used to treat asthma. The purpose of this website is to help you learn more about the drugs that you are or your loved one is taking to treat asthma.

    • Eleanor, please consult with your doctor regarding the appropriate asthma medication for you. There is a lot of information about asthma medications on the Internet, but these websites do not know your medical history or if you have other medical conditions. Hence, they really cannot tell you which medications you should take.

Please, please always consult your doctor before taking any new asthma medication (or any other medication), even if it's over the counter.
